Easy To Make Hand Sanitizer…..That Is Safe For You!

When I am out and about I like to know that I have a way to clean my hands when I am going out to eat, rub my eye, camping, or whatever.  I used to resort to buying the toxic hand sanitizers from the store and cringed every time I used them.  I thought, well, it’s the lesser of two evils right?!  🙂  What would be worse, getting bombarded by germs or rubbing a toxic chemical cocktail into my skin?  Now, no more worries!  A safe alternative you can feel good about using on you or your children.  This hand sanitizer won’t leave your skin feeling dry either.

How To Make Safe Hand Sanitizer

Very easy to make and this would also be fun to make and give as gifts.  Here goes:

1 cup aloe vera gel

10 drops vitamin e oil

1-2 tablespoons Witch Hazel

10 drops organic  tea tree oil

8 drops  organic Patchouli oil  ( See why we choose this brand of Essential Oils over all others here.)

amber squeeze bottles

  1. Mix the essential oils in a glass bowl
  2. Add the witch hazel, mix well
  3. Add the aloe vera, mix well
  4. Add to bottles and shake well before each use
  5. Have peace of mind knowing this is a much safer alternative

*note*   You may want to do a patch test first with the essential oils by mixing 1 drop to 1 tsp. oil ( I prefer coconut oil ) and rubbing on your arm to make sure you are not allergic or have any negative reaction.  Some people may have very sensitive skin. Essential oils can be potent.

Tea Tree oil is anti-microbial, anti-septic, and anti-bacterial. Tea Tree is also non-irritant, and non-toxic.

Patchouli  is an  anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, anti-fungal and anti-septic oil.

Both of these oils will not cause a bacterial resistance.
