7 Reasons Why You Should Eat An Avocado Daily!

Most people think the avocado is a vegetable, not so.

It is a fruit.  In fact it is considered one large berry with a single seed!
It fits the definition of being a fruit because it is the matured ovary of a flower, has a fleshly pulp and a seed.
This fruit gives benefits from beautiful skin to helping protect against cancer.
A single avocado can have a whopping 700 mg. of potassium!
That is double of what a banana has.
Need a little extra protein and don’t eat a lot of meat?
Avocados have about 4 gms. of protein each.
They are commonly  used in smoothies, face masks, and of course, guacamole!
What is there to not love about this yummy treat.
Let’s look at the 7 reasons why you should eat an avocado daily  🙂

The Mighty Avocado……..Why?

  1.   Blood Pressure
This condition affects roughly 30 percent of adult Americans.
High blood pressure can lead to kidney disease, heart disease, and strokes.
This potassium rich food helps to lower blood pressure.
This important mineral balances the effects that salt can have in the body.
The  beta-sitosterol levels in an avocado also help lower blood pressure.
  2. Blood Sugar
    Avocados have monounsaturated fats.
This fruit is very beneficial to a diabetic because it helps control blood sugar spikes.
It’s fiber and fat content makes it take longer to digest
while at the same time slowing down other carbs you eat it with.
So………those chips you eat might do better with a little guacamole stuck to them 🙂
  3. Heart health
These babies are loaded with heart healthy monounsaturated fats that are the same fats found in olive oil.
Monounsaturated fats can help lower LDL
(bad) cholesterol levels while at the same time raise the amount of HDL  (good) cholesterol.
This helps to lower your risk of heart disease.
  4. Cancer- Avocados have a concentrated amount of carotenoids which are  powerful antioxidants.

Carotenoids when combined with a healthy fat are able to be better absorbed.
In my opinion that makes an avocado a perfect food
because it is not only rich in carotenoids a powerful antioxidant but also healthy fat.
Avocados are also rich in other antioxidants such as vitamin e and lutein.
In one study it showed that avocatin b, a fat found in avocados,
was shown to fight acute myeloid leukemia.(AML)
Avocatin -b goes after the leukemia stem cells helping to not only fight the cancer but helping to prevent recurrence.

  5. Eyes
The anti-oxidant lutein that is found in avocados is very protective to the eyes!
It protects from macular degeneration, cataracts, and stress damage from oxidation. One avocado contains roughly 80 mcg. of lutein.
  6. Anti-Inflammatory
These amazing fruits are rich in polyphenols and flavonoids.
These make an awesome tag team when it comes to fighting inflammation.
  7. Skin
The high content of fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins can do wonders for promoting a healthier complexion.
Of course that’s assuming you are not indulging in processed junk foods and you are also drinking good filtered water.
If you want to help hydrate,  nourish and smooth your skin complexion, try an avocado mask!
If you did this at least once or twice a week and consumed an avocado daily
along with drinking plenty of good filtered water and a good whole food based diet,
you would start to see a more healthy and supple complexion.

Another biggie is that avocado oil is a treasure trove of goodies for the skin topically.   It is an extreme hydrator and moisturizer.  It has incredible skin softening properties, just make sure it is cold pressed and unrefined.  Here is a quality avocado oil for using cosmetically.  Many users of this super oil report healthy, glowing, taut skin.

In conclusion

The avocado is hands down one of the healthiest foods on this planet.  I try to have them every day.  I will either put them in a smoothie, or make some serious guacamole, or just slice one up and drizzle some delicious ranch dressing on top.  No matter how you decide to do it, eat an avocado daily.  Now, I will be watching the news and waiting for them to declare a shortage on avocados soon because I know all of you are going to start ramping it up  and eating at least 1-2 daily  🙂
Excuse me, I gotta go now and make that green stuff for my chips.  🙂
